Shamkhal Valley has unique nature with long walls and low width. The valley is about 18 kilometers long and has an estimated wall height of up to 200 meters. The valley has a gentle slope Which at its entrance a village of the same name is located in a dense residential district.
Shamkhal in Kurdish Kermanji is the name of an old, hand-made gun. There is a saying in the Kurdish language that says"Has the Shamkhal bullet struck you?", This proverb applies to people who mourn for minor issues. The beautiful, winding, meandering name of the valley is from a village near the valley.
Shamkhal Valley is 25 km south of Turkmenistan border and the border town of Bajgiran in Khorasan Razavi province and is 5 km far from Quchan city.
There is a seasonal river at the entrance of the valley. At a distance of 10 kilometers from the entrance of valley, there is a spectacular water bath, which welcomes a large number of tourists in summer.

At Quchan Palestine Square, private passenger cars take the valley travelers to Shamkhal village and If coordinated with the driver, they return to Quchan at the end of the valley path. The road to Shamkhal village is asphalted and passes through a long tunnel of Bajgiran.
